I started travelling by bicycle in 1984: a 5 days journey to the Auvergne in France. The year after it became a 50 days tour all to Rome and back. In the beginning the cycling was the most important, but after a short time I realised that it was only a way of travelling. However, the better my physical condition and the better the material, the more I could enjoy it. After a few years cycling in Europe, I decided to go to Turkey, and later to the Middle East. The Kadesj trail became the hardest but also the best travel I ever did. In 1993 the borders with Eastern Europe were open, and cycling was a great way to discover these new countries. But the most adventurous travels were in Asia: Vietnam and Sumatra, and later Thailand, Cambodia ,Laos and China. Cycling is for me the perfect mix of all I like: sports, culture, adventure and most of all, the best way to make new friends all over the world; |
