Traveling by bicycle – photos

2004: Saigon - Bangkok
Back to the Far East. Saigon is changing quickly. The Mekong delta is a paradise for cyclists. Cambodia is shocking: so much poverty, so many memories of the Khmer Rouge (Tuol Sleng, Killing Fields ...). But there is also the incredible beauty of Angkor, one of the world's most amazing archaeological sites. I stay there for four days, cycling and walking between ancient temples and small villages. After 2 days cycling on an unpaved road I reach the Thai border in the casino and gambling town of Poipet. Now I have to cycle on the left side, and 3 days later I am in the old Thai capital Ayutthaya. From there it is only 80 km to Bangkok.
